4-H Opportunities
A variety of opportunities allow 4-H’ers to “Learn by Doing.”
Local Club Meetings: Monthly meetings are held during the school year (during school hours for school-based clubs or at a central location for homeschoolers).
Project Nights: These are special meetings held for students wishing to learn in-depth about a specific subject or project area.These meetings are usually held outside of school time at a central location. Some of the project areas 4-H’ers can choose are:

Contests: Contests are held in local club meetings. Winners are invited to compete at county, regional, state and/or national level for trophies, plaques, scholarships, and more. Contests include Poster, Tasty Treats, Speech, Photography, STEAM Projects, Demonstrations, Exhibits, & Clover Bowl.
Scholarship Competitions: 4-H’ers can earn college scholarships by completing portfolios, competing on judging teams, and completing project activities.
Workshops: These are hand-on sessions held during school breaks where 4-H’ers complete special projects such as exper- iments,crafts,sewing,cooking,vet science activities, & more.
Camps/Retreats/Confernces: A variety of overnight camps & conferences are available. Examples include: 4-H Accademic Conference, Leadership Retreat, 4-H Adventure Camp, Fashion & Design Conference, Target Smart Camp, Electric Camp, Quilt Camp, TN 4-H Congress, 4-H Round-Up and more.
Animal Shows: Special shows are held to allow 4-H’ers to showcase sheep, horses, cattle, poultry, & companion animals.
Judging Teams: Teams work together to learn specific skills and apply them in a contest to make wise choices. Teams include: Adulting 101, Horses, Wildlife, Forestry, Consumer Decision Making, Livestock, and Dairy Foods.
Grilling Team: 4-H’ers learn food safety & preparation skills to compete at county, regional, and state grilling championships.
Service Projects: 4-H’ers can participate in a variety of service projects throughout the year.
